Largest modernization project in the history of the Vienna subway. The modernization of the U4 (NEU4) is the most comprehensive modernization project in the history of the Vienna subway. As part of the NEU4 project, Wiener Linien replaced signal boxes, renewed tracks and track substructures, renovated stations and tunnel ceilings and installed additional track connections that allow a track change in the event of disruptions and thus more reliable operation of the U4.
